Truth Assembly

What to Expect

At Truth Assembly of God, you can expect a time to meet with God and make new relationships. We think of ourselves as a family, and we would enjoy your company as we celebrate the God who created us. A first time visit to a church can be an intimidating time. A lot of questions rise before taking a step in the door. Am I welcome, what time should I get there, what should I wear, should I bring my children, should I bring money, will people look at me funny? In order to ease your mind, let me answer those questions below.

When to Arrive

Our Sunday service times vary by site, so I will break it down for you. If you plan to attend our services in Melcher-Dallas, plan on arriving at least five minutes before the start time of 8:30 am. Sunday School at this site begins at 9:45 am, following the morning worship hour. If you plan to attend in Chariton, we begin our Sunday School classes at 9:15 am. Service begins at 10:30 am, and you should allow yourself plenty of time to park and enter the service before we begin.

Handicap Accessibility

Both churches are handicap accessible; however, the handicap bathrooms at our Chariton site are located in another building. We apologize for this inconvenience, but are unable to remedy this at present. The Melcher site has a handicap chair lift located just inside the front doors. In Chariton, our handicap entrance is located on the south side of the building, just off the parking lot.

What to Wear

You don’t need to worry about what you look like, come as you are. The people who attend our churches are from all types of backgrounds, and bring their own uniqueness to our service. No one is worried about style of clothing, or being dressed up. People come to church as they are comfortable. If you feel more comfortable in a dress or suit, wear one. If you would rather wear jeans and a t-shirt, that is great.

Walking in the Door

In Melcher-Dallas, please use the south double doors, and at Chariton, the doors on the east near Grand Avenue. The handicap ramp should only be used if needed, as it is an entrance near the front of the sanctuary. An usher should greet you when you arrive and direct you where you should go. They should be wearing a name tag, so if they don’t find you, find them. If you have any questions, they should be able to help. The usher should hand you a visitor card, pen and any other daily handouts. The card should be filled out and placed in the offering bag, the pen and handouts are yours to keep.

Melcher–Dallas Service

In Melcher-Dallas, the family service consists of a time of worship, prayer, giving and a message. At this time, there is no children’s church or nursery. Children are invited to take part in the service with adults. The service lasts for generally an hour. Parents are encouraged to attend, and should not hesitate to bring their children. There are plans to begin a children’s church soon.

Chariton Service

At our Chariton site, service consists of much of the same, worship, prayer, giving and a message. A nursery for kids who are not in school is provided downstairs. We provide nursery workers after the morning worship time. Parents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity. Kids from kindergarten through 5th grade are dismissed to children’s church, following the worship period, for a great time of kid oriented learning and fun. Adults and teens are then challenged with a message. Service generally ends around noon.

Giving

During the service, tithes and offerings will be received. More than a collection to pay church bills, this too is worship. Our members feel giving the tithe (the first tenth of income) and offerings declares that God comes first. It recognizes His blessing, expresses faith and seeks His guidance in every matter in life. The ministries of the local church and globe-encircling work of the Assemblies of God are supported solely by free-will giving. However, visitors need not feel obligated to give.

Prayer is our link with God, an awesome avenue through which we can express praise and adoration to Him for His goodness, love, and mercy; and an avenue through which we can voice our petitions and concerns. God's Word assures us that we can "come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:16).

Prayer also moves the hand of God on behalf of needs and circumstances in our church, our families, our community, nation, and world. Take time to pray and intercede for these areas as God leads you. Become part of a prayer group and intercede with others in times of corporate prayer. As you seek God's help, expect reports of great victory to follow as God answers prayer.
